DR. BILL CODE, BSc, MD, FRCPC

integrative medical advisor

BILL CODE, M.D. earned his medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and worked as a general practitioner before training in anesthesia and brain research. He is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist in Canada and the United States, and for years recruited and taught Anesthesiology residents. Dr. Code also spent six years in brain research and drug therapy for chronic pain.

But at the age of 42, his paradigm shifted dramatically when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and lost his hospital privileges. Western medicine had little to offer and it was not until 1997, while attending a conference entitled Complimentary & Alternative Medical Choices for Multiple Sclerosis, that Dr. Code began to have hope. He immediately gave up wheat and experienced an improvement in his symptoms.

This encouraged him to seek healthy, non-drug solutions to manage the neurological deterioration, depression and pain. Dr. Code began to investigate the integration of organic foods, vitamins supplements and other holistic wellness regimens to facilitate his healing process. It was his own progression over the next few months that drove Dr. Code’s passion in Integrative Medicine, an approach to medicine that encompasses both convention treatments but also combines natural medicine paradigms.

Dr. Code recently finished a 2-year fellowship at the renowned College of Medicine, University of Arizona, founded by Dr. Andrew Weil. His areas of study include; Nutrition, Ayrvedic (Indian) Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Osteopathy, and Herbal Medicine, and is one of the leading experts in Glutathione, the master antioxidant that is vital to the detoxification process and often depleted in people suffering from prescription pill dependence and most chronic diseases.
Dr. Code was introduced to Alesandra Rain and Andrea Crocker and immediately embraced the mission of POINT OF RETURN. He is a co-author of the POINT OF RETURN tapering program and worked to ensure it was tailored to meet the specific nutritional demands placed on the body during drug withdrawal. In fact, Dr. Code used the protocols in POINT OF RETURN to wean himself off Imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant prescribed to him prior to being diagnosed with MS.

As an acclaimed speaker and author, Dr. Code books include; Multiple Sclerosis - one doctor's search for healing (ebook), Who's in Control of your Multiple Sclerosis, Youth Renewed (with Claudia Tiefisher), Winning the Pain Game, and Point of Return (with Alesandra Rain and Andrea Crocker).

In early 2008, Dr. Code fulfilled one of his dreams - an extended bicycle tour of Sicily with his wife Denise.
