Flurazepam (Dalmane, Dalmadorm)
Dalmane (Flurazepam) is a benzodiazepine that produces a metabolite that has an extremely long half-life of 40-250 hours and therefore stays in the bloodstream up to 4 days. This makes it unsuitable as a sleeping pill due to the next day sedation and impairment. Dalmane is contraindicated during pregnancy. It is recommended to withdraw before breastfeeding as Dalmane is excreted in breast milk. All benzodiazepines have the potential for addiction and should be tapered to minimize withdrawal symptoms.

*Because prescription medications can cause severe withdrawal reactions, do not stop taking any medication without first consulting your physician. The decision to taper any medication should be discussed with your doctor and done with their consent and support. More...
