What is Lexamil? (Cipralex, Escitalopram, Lexaprin, Lexapro, Sipralexa, Esertia, Enact, Serople)
Lexamil (Lexapro) is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Antidepressant. Lexamil is the same molecular formula of bonded atoms as Citalopram, an earlier version of the medication and has side effects typical for the SSRI class, with insomnia, nausea, sexual dysfunction and numerous others being reported. Caution should be used when combining Lexamil with St. John’s Wort or with any cough medication that contains dextromethorphan as there is a risk of Serotonin Syndrome, a potentially life-threatening increase in Serotonin levels. Omeprazole can also increase the blood levels of Lexamil significantly.
