Lunesta dependecy and withdraw programs

Lunesta is a short-acting hypnotic that is prescribed for the treatment of insomnia. Although Lunesta binds to the same family of receptors as benzodiazepines, it is considered a class of sedative drugs called cyclopyrrones, which are called nonbenzodiazepines.

Lunesta binds strongly to a GABA receptor subtype called omega, and it is believed that this selectivity is responsible for the strong hypnotic effects. Lunesta can cause amnesia, delusions, altered thought patterns and impaired judgment. If an individual does not sleep immediately after taking Lunesta, or if they get up shortly after taking their medication, they may experience hallucinations or problems with coordination and memory.

Some studies show that Lunesta alters the sleep architecture in the same way that benzodiazepines do - by reducing the amounts of restorative Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep and increasing the non-restorative sleep patterns. This can result in daytime drowsiness and poor cognitive function. Therefore only short-term use of Lunesta is recommended and discontinuation should be with a gradual dose reduction.

Lunesta withdrawal and dependency can cause debilitating symptoms and interfere with life. Learn how our non profit can help you withdraw from Lunesta correctly.

What is Lunesta?

(Imovane, Zopliclone, Zimovane, Eszopiclone, Zopliclone)

(Lunesta) Imovane resembles benzodiazepines with similar side effects and risks, although they have dissimilar chemical structures. Imovane is known as a Z-drug, which was thought to be less addictive or habit-forming than benzodiazepines. However, this appraisal is proving to be inaccurate, as documented cases of addiction have surfaced. Imovane works by depressing the central nervous system, and after continuous use (longer than 10-14 days) adaptations occur. Reducing Imovane too rapidly or stopping the drug can result in rebound withdrawal symptoms that are also seen in benzodiazepine withdrawal. According to the World Health Organization, Imovane binds with high affinity to the same sites that the benzodiazepine class of drugs do. A gradual taper is recommended.
