Sinquan (Sinequan, Doxepin, Aponal, Adapin, Deptran, Silenor)
Sinquan (Sinequan) is a tricyclic antidepressant prescribed for depression and anxiety that exerts its influence on Serotonin and Norepinephrine. It was synthesized by a German pharmaceutical and tested from 1963-1968 in various German and Swiss psychiatric institutions before being approved in Germany. Using Sinequan chronically during pregnancy can cause withdrawal symptoms in the newborn with agitation, impaired cardio-respiratory functions, disturbed urination and defecation. Sinequan is found in significant amounts in the milk of lactating women. Sinequan make cause withdrawal symptoms if treatment is abruptly discontinued. Tapering is recommended to minimize symptoms.
