What is Trittico? (Trazodone Desyrel, Thombran, Molipaxin, Trialodine)
Trittico (Desyrel) was developed in Italy in the 1960s but wasn’t approved by the FDA until 1981. As a Serotonin Antagonist and Reuptake Inhibitor (SARI) it has anti-anxiety, hypnotic and antidepressant qualities. Trazodone is a pregnancy Category C medication, meaning they have caused or may be suspected of causing, harmful effects on the human fetus. Like all antidepressants, Trazodone is associated with an antidepressant discontinuation syndrome (withdrawal symptoms) that can occur with an interruption of treatment or a too rapid withdrawal. Tapering is recommended.
